Restrictions on driving in Stuttgart since 01. March 2008
Travelers planning to drive in Germany should take note of new regulations that are coming into force to clean up the air in especially cities. The fine for not displaying a sticker inside an Umweltzone is 40 EUR (payable on the spot) and a point against the license holder in the German register in Flensburg.
Stickers (Feinstaubplaketten) can be bought from many car dealers, car registration offices, and many garages. In some cases, tourist information offices and even hotels within an Umweltzone obtain stickers for potential guests. Arrival by car:
A8 (E52): Karlsruhe - Stuttgart - Munich
Stuttgart-Vaihingen/Zentrum:
Take route B14, Wildpark- and Deisseichstraße, and continue straight ahead onto Heilbronner Straße (B27).
Stuttgart Airport - Stuttgart - Degerloch/Zentrum:
Take route B27, down Obere Weinsteige directly onto Heilbronner Straße (B27/B10).
A 81 (E41): Lake Constance - Singen - Rottweil - Stuttgart - Heilbronn - Würzburg
Stuttgart-Vaihingen/Zentrum:

Stuttgart-Feuerbach/Zentrum (hailing from Würzburg):
Take route B295 direction Stuttgart. At the end of route B295, turn onto Heilbronner Straße (B10 / B27). *Follow route B27. Take care, there is a fixed speed camera in the bend! Take the second exit to the right after the speed camera (Mia-Seeger-Straße) and follow the signs leading to the Ibis Hotel. The Bülowbogen can be found on the left hand side, approx. 100m behind the hotel. You have reached your destination. The hotel parking lot can be used for a fee.
Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen/Zentrum (hailing from Würzburg):
Take route B27 direction Stuttgart. * from here, see above
Arrival by public transportation:
From Stuttgart Airport:
Take S-Bahn lines S2 or S3 to Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (ca. 30 minutes). Here, take the escalator to the subway (U-Bahn).
From Stuttgart main station:
Take either line U6 direction Gerlingen, line U7 direction Mönchfeld, or line U5 direction Killesberg. After 3 minutes, you have reached the stop "Eckhartshaldenweg". The Bülowbogen can be seen on the right hand side in direction of travel.
